Навчальна програма розроблена на основі вимог до професійної підготовки освітньо-кваліфікаційного рівня бакалавра з дисциплін лінгвістичного циклу. Курс розрахований на студентів лінгвістичних спеціальностей першого року навчання гуманітарного факультету національного університету «Києво-Могилянська академія» та викладається англійською мовою, яка є другою робочою мовою університету. Курс орієнтований на вивчення географії, історії, соціально-політичної організації, культури, релігії та освіти, традицій та повсякденного життя Великобританії, США, та Австралії.

“English for Professional Needs” is a new type of educational programmes aimed at developing language skills for professional needs. The programme consolidates the knowledge acquired within General English Course and helps students to expand professional vocabulary and improve skills: speaking, writing, reading and listening, which are neccessary for their qualification. “English for Professioal Needs” is intended to facilitate students to master their academic approaches to analytical reading of special texts, summary writing, essay writing, group discussions, debates and presentations as well as note-taking, listening for gist and listening for details. The programme is designed to develop critical thinking and to prepare students for further successful studies on ESP and Master's programmes.
